The Outside
The Clearing is a Model D design, sustainable, eco house designed by Sylvan Stuart. A local firm with a unique and extensive knowledge of Scottish timber resulting in designs which marry the contemporary with the traditional; bold, modern designs made to last in even the most exposed and remote Scottish locations.

The Inside
The Clearing owes its light-filled and clever use of space to the talents of the designer, Hazel Irvine, creator of The Design Bothy. She believes in co-creating architecture: a concept that uses her twenty years of design experience to partner equally with, ‘your extensive knowledge of yourself, what you value, and how you want to live.’ To learn more, or to begin your own co-creating journey.

The Framing
Where would I be without Country Frames Gallery? They have often featured my work in their quarterly exhibitions which are filled with a varied choice of many talented local painters, sculptors, and artisans. It is a gallery that is off the beaten track, but I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Professional and personal (with perhaps the friendliest inhouse gallery dog you have ever met!) A gallery and a framers with a difference.

The Furniture
Handmade, handcrafted, locally sourced, beautifully finished, bespoke wooden furniture. We count ourselves lucky to have found Andy Dodds, a talented and versatile local craftsman. You’ll see examples of his craftmanship all around The Clearing.
